About

Welcome to my blog!

I’m Jessica, an aspiring author eager to complete the first draft of my first novel.

How often -even before we began- have we declared a task ‘impossible’? And how often have we construed a picture of ourselves as being inadequate? … A great deal depends upon the thought patterns we choose and on the persistence with which we affirm them.

Piero Ferrucci

In the past, I’ve written short stories, poems, and a short novel in the realm of FanFiction. I’ve started original novels several times over and abandoned them. I’ve started blogs like this one several times over and abandoned them too. I’m ready to stop declaring things ‘impossible’, to stop thinking of my writing efforts as ‘inadequate’, and to stop the cycle of creative abandonment.

This is a space for me to:

  • blog the journey of researching and writing my first novel,
  • join in on challenges like NaPoWriMo,and to
  • share with you some of the books I’m reading and films, musicals and plays I’m watching

So to you, dear reader, thanks for getting to know me. Please stay a while, have a look around and a cup of tea, and most importantly – leave a comment so I can find you and get to know you too!

  1. Keep going-don’t give up! Whether it’s blogging or novel writing or poetry. I don’t set myself any targets, (I’m definitely not big on discipline!), it just write when I feel in the mood for it. Otherwise it becomes a chore. I’m not big on chores either-ask the wife! 🙂
